QUEEN CARNIVAL NOTES.
A reminder is given of the entertainment in the Opera House to-night, when the Mayor (Air A. E. Alansford) will present and introduce the five queen candidates. A miscellaneous programme will be contributed to by the leading artists of the city, and a large audience is expected.
SPORTS QUEEN.
A bowling and croquet tournament in aid of the Sports Queen, Miss Mollie Nathan, will be held on the Takaro Club’s beautiful green, to-morrow, at 2 p.m. The folowing bowling clubs will bo represented: Manawatu 2 rinks, Northern 4 rinks, Takaro 2 rinks, Palmerston North 4 rinks. The ladies arc also running a croquet todrnament. A novelty item will be a ladies’ challenge to a game of bowls, their opponents, some niere , men, to play left handed. Non-p/aycrs will find entertainment in many competitions. Takaro Club officials headed by the president (Mr Cooksley), are out to make the tournament a great success, and invite players from other clubs.
