OPTIMISTS’ CLUB.

There was a good attendance of Optimists at the weekly luncheon oi tlie Palmerston North Optimists’ Club held yesterday in Messrs Colli nson and Cunninghame’s luncheon room. Optimist S. Martin presided and introduced the speaker, Mr J. L. Harwood, whose subject was “Big and Little Things in Life.” Mr Harwood, after quoting from Dean Swift’s “Gulliver’s Travels,” described to his hearers the wonders of the heavens, and compared the size of this planet with the astronomical calculations of others in the celestial sphere. The speaker continued in an interesting manner and his address was appreciated by the Optimists.

On the motion of the chairman the club’s official vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Harwood. An apology for absence was received from Optimist K. Collinson. Optimist C. Pearcey will preside next Friday.
