CENTRAL BANK BILL.
NO DECISIONS MADE. NOTHING YET DRAFTED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Oct, 7. In a statement issued to-day, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Finance, said : “In view of the various speculations circulating about the possible changes that the Government is making in the Central Bank Bill, I should like it to be known quite definitely that no decisions have been arrived at. Many representations have been made to, and considered by, the Government and the Coalition Caucus, but ns yet there has been nothing drafted. In fact, after other interested parties have been consulted, another caucus will later be held for a further discussion of any possible changes, if these should prove necessary and desirable. “I may say,” added Mr Coates, “that the Bill will remain substantially as at first presented as fa.r as the general principles are concerned, because nothing has been decided upon. There will be no major changes in the method of working the Reserve Bank—the main principles will be there. In the meantime, I can make no statement on any of the minor alterations because nothing has been decided upon.”
