CENTRAL SWIMMING CLUB.

The first annual meeting of the Central Swimming ' Club was held on Wednesday evening, when Mr E. Bary presided over an attendance of about 30 members and supporters. The report showed that the club had been very successful in championship and competitive events, while members had assisted in encouraging junior swimmers. The total membership for last season was 83, and the prospects for the. coming season show that this total will be maintained. Throughout the winter months gymnasium classes were held in the assembly hall and members had benefited considerably. The financial position of the club was fairly sound, although an amount of £ls 5s was expended on lights for the baths. The following officers were elected for the coming season: —Patron, Mr E. Bary; president, Mr R. L. C. Aitchison; vice-presidents, Messrs W. G. Black, A. Gordon, A. E. Kerslake, L. Simmonds, W. Cadwallader, G. H. Jarrett, C. E. Taylor, R. Tait, W. Garden and G. L. Snelling; club captain, Mr W, R Eyre; vice-captain, Mr H. Palmer; club coach, Mr W. Nichols; secretary-treasurer, Mr-E. C. Coates; handicapper. Mr W; .Eyre; executive committee, Mrs C. Coates, Miss G. Simmonds, Messrs W. R. Eyre, W. Nichols, W. Fitzgerald, J. Ryan, L. Simmonds, C. Brian; H. Palmer, and E. G. Coates; auditor, Mr Mcllwraith; delegates to Manawatu Centre, Messrs W. Nichols and W. Fitzgerald. It was decided that club nights be Monday, and Thursday and that, they commence as soon as possible -after the opening of the baths. Subscriptions were fixed at men 2s 6d, -ladies 2s, juniors under 16, Is. Mr Mcllwraith intimated that he would present a cup for the most improved swimmer during the coming season. .Votes of thanks were accorded to the school committee for the use of the assembly hall for a gymnasium, Misses E.
