RANGITIKEI.

MARTON; Oct. 5.

The committee of tho Marton Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club met last evening. The president, Mr S. B. Abel, occupied the chair. Tho grounds committee reported that considerable work had been done on the tracks which were now in excellent order. Tho finance committee reported that tho club had only a small credit balance and there were still a number of accounts unpaid. Caution with expenditure would be necessary this season. The chairman said that the Sub-committee appointed at the last meeting to bring down recommendations with reference to a programme of activities for the season had given' careful consideration to the matter and wan firmly of the opinion that some revision in tho usual programme was necessary. Tho meeting adopted a number of suggestions made by the committee. The final cycle road race of the present series was held yesterday afternoon, five riders facing the starter. The course was three times round the Nga Tawa block, the limit rider W. Tolley (2£min) coming in first, with 40 seconds to spare from J. Tolley (scr), with H. Moss (scr) only a wheel further back. T. Horner was close up, but J. Young withdrew from tho race owing to trouble with his machine. J. Tolley registered fastest time. During the series W. Tolley secured most points (11), with J. Young second. J. Tolley secured fastest time on four occasions out of five. The committee of the Athletic Club last evening decided to award prizes to these three.

It is many years since the Marton bowling green has been as keen for an opening day as it' was with the result that the games were particularly enjoyable.
