Rt. Rev. Dr. Sprott, Bishop of Wellington, who has been conducting confirmation servieces in the Manawatu, returned to Wellington by train this afternoon.
Rev. E. P. Blamires, general secretary of the Methodist Church Young People’s Department, and a brother of Rev. E. O. Blamires, of Feilding, was a visitor to Palmerston North today.
Mr G. M. Valentine, dairy instructor at Massey College, sails from Auckland on October 26 to commence his year’s appointment as assistant to the inspector of New Zealand dairy produce at Home. Mr Valentine expects to be at Massey College until a few days before liis departure for Auckland.
Rev. F. A. Crawsliaw, New Zealand secretary for the Mission to Lepers for the past five years, has accepted the position of general secretary for Australia for the same mission. Mr Grawshaw will have his headquarters in Melbourne and expects to commence his work there at the beginning of January next. At present he is in Auckland doing deputation work. The death occurred in London on September 23 of Mr John Kirkley Campbell, a native of Nelson, who retired in 1925 after 36 years’ service m the London office of the New Zealand Government, according to private advice received by cablegram. At the time of his retirement Mr Campbell was assistant secretary to the High Commisioner for New Zealand. In the course of his career Mr Campbell served under eight High Commissioners.
