Humphries, for interference by his mount, Reminder, the winner of the Taioma Handicap at the Dunedin Jockey Club’s races yesterday, with Amelita, was »uspended for 12 days as from to-day. OPPONENTS SCARCE. WINOOKA’S RACE PROSPECTS. NEW YORK, Oct. 5. A message from Baltimore says that the chances of a meeting between Jamestown and Winooka appeared remote today when Mr Cummings, president of the Maryland State Fair, announced that he did not tee his way clear to arrange such a match at Laurel. It is pointed out that there are' several races scheduled at Laurel fo? the next ten days in which Winooka could run, but it is understood that Mr Naylor has held out for a match race, the winner to take all. Mr Naylor stated later that the otter of a match with Equipoise will hold good until November 7. Ho hopes a preliminary race will be run, possibly at Pimlico track, on the opening day, November 1. MASTERTON RACING CLUB. CLOSING OF ACCEPTANCES. Owners and trainers are reminded that acceptances for all events at the meeting of the Masterton Racing Club to be held on Saturday next, close with the secretary on Monday night at 9 o’clock. The fixture, coming as it does a little way in advance of the Wellington meeting, will furnish owners and trainers with an excellent opportunity to give their representatives a real test, more particularly as a success w-ill not entail a penalty for the mort important fixture to follow.
