A mechanical monster—the largest stonecrusher in the world—has been completed in the Ivrupp-Gruson works at Magdeburg in Germany. It weighs 235 tons, and it can crush 500 to 800 tons of granite in an hour. Its crushing jaws alone have a weight of nearly 40 tons, and 15 freight cars are needed to transport it.
