The excess of income over expenditure l!ie previous year was £Bll. The principal items of expenditure incurred during the last financial year under the heading general expenses were salaries, £6BO, as compared willi £602 for tlie previous period, travelling expenses, £645 (.£404); printing and stationery, £lB7 (.£250); Stud Book. £230 (£219); sundries, £2Ol (£229). The inspection of training establishments cent ££2J as compared with £139. The stipendiary sf awards’ account; absorbed £3476 as against £3317. the chief items being salaries, £2485 (£2325); travelling expellees, £57!) (£610) ; deputies’ fete, £289 (£251); fees supervising trotting events, £ll3 (£125).
The racecourse inspectors' account shows expenditure at .13907, as compared with £3591 for the previous year. Salaries, including those of the ofiice stall', totalled .12975 (12326); travelling expenses, £674 (£578); deputies’ fees, £273 (£154); while £IOO is debited to legal expenses. Accumulated funds stand at £4218 10s 6d, and levies outstanding ‘ total 11558, o! which sum £l4B is owing for tho 1936-37 season. Various sums are tshown as unpaid since the 1931-32 season. The chief sources of income for the year just closed were registration fees, £747 (£1475). It; must he explained that in 1936 renewal fees for the registration of colours fell due* and accounted for £727. Broadcasting foes accounted for £9OO (£825), and tho levies on racing clubs produced £7021 (£7089), while tho Trot ting Conference contributed £872 (£840). Claims settled out of tho general trust fund were £5523, as compared with £4939 in tiio 1935-36 season. To provido for establishing outstanding claims £973 has been set aside. The income of this fund was supported by accident fees, £3550; trainers’ foes, £684; jockeys’ fees, £419; apprentice jockeys, £75; amateur riders, £188; commission on riding fees, £1080; interest, £439; and fines, £lO. Tho investments of tho fund stand at £12,C00.
