ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY
PALMERSTON NORTH BRANCH. Mr E. G. Matthews was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the Palmerston North branch of tho Wellington Acclimatisation Societv, on Thursday. A letter was received from the Wellington society stating that a meeting would shortly be held for the purpose of framing rules for the fishing season, and asking tho branch to forward a.ny recommendations it might wish to make. It was decided to notify the council that the existing rules were quite satisfactory. The minutes of the Wellington Council recorded the ratification _ of the amalgamation of the Feilding and Districts Acclimatisation Society with the Wellington Society.
After considerable discussion it was resolved to write to the council regarding pollard poisoning, as it is understood that serious damage is being done to pheasants and email in the Tangimoana and surrounding districts. Tt was stated that poison laid for rabbits wa.s also destroying the birds.
