FATALITY NEAR NAPIER.

CAR STRIKES POAVER POLE. Per Press Association. NAPIER, June 27. Mononui Tareha, aged 24, was killed in a motor smash at Taradale at 5 a.m. to-day. Two persons, Messrs Tareha and G. James, were in a lorry proceeding from town, when the vehicle became out of control. It literally wrapped itself round a power pole, bringing down all the wires.

Mi Tareha was killed outright, his neck probably being broken. Mr James was later sent to hospital in a serious condition.
