COUNCIL OF SPORT.

SUGGESTED CONSTITUTION. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 26. A comprehensive report embodying the suggested constitution for the Council of Sport has been prepared as a result of' the conference held at Christchurch recently between representatives of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, the New Zealand Council of the Life-Saving Society and the New Zealand Surf Life-Saving Association. The report has been prepared for Hon. W. E. Parry and has been forwarded to liim.

The proposed council would consist of the Minister of Internal Affairs as chairman, three representatives of the Government, one representing the Department of Internal Aflairs, one the Health Department and the third the Education Department, a representative of the medical profession, and one representative of each of the following national amateur organisations and such others as shall attain national status: Rugby Union, Rugby League, Football Association, Basketball Association, Cricket Association, Hockey Association, Golf Association. Croquet Association, Tennis Association. Bowls Association. Badminton Association, Table Tennis Association, Squash Rackets Association, Swimming Association, Royal Life-Saving Society, New Zealand Surf Association, Amateur Athletic Association, Amateur Cycling Association, Alpine Sports Association. New Zealand Rifle Association, New Zealand Miniature Rifle Association, New Zealand Gun Clubs Association, Amateur Wrestling Association, Amateur Boxin «• Association. Fencing Association, arid Weight Lifting Association. The executive is to consist of the four Government representatives, the medical profession representative, a.nd seven members elected by the representatives of the various sports organisations constituting the council. The council is to meet half-yearly or at such other times as the Minister might deem advisable, the executive to be elected yearly and meet monthly, or as the council shall direct. , , ~, , The policy suggested to be followed is sot out in detail.
