HIGH TREASON CHARGE.

ELDERLY GERMAN BISHOP. NAZI ALLEGATIONS. BERLIN, June 27. Charges of high treason were levelled against the 7 5-year-old Dr. Ludwig Sebastian, Roman Catholic Bishop of Speyer, when he appeared as a witness at the trial at F rankenthal of a priest charged with “malicious talk.” A Nazi leader asked the bishop if he had written letters about internal conditions in Germany to a foreign Power. The bishop refused to reply, whereupon the Nazi flourished a. photostat copy of a letter meqioning quarrels between Brown Shirts Sad Steel Helmets allegedly written in 1935 by the Bishop to Caidinal Pacelli, Secretary of State to the Holy See. The prosecutor said: “It is practically treasonably.”
