(From Our Own Correspondent.) COLYTON. June 26. The School Committee meeting was held this week, there being present the chairman (Mr J. Crook), secretary (Mr IX. B. Woodman), and Messrs C. O. Al-I-rby and N. Mitchell. An apology for absence was received from Mr G. L. Jensen, who underwent a slight operation in Palmerston North last week. Final details were completed for the concert and dance in a’d of the funds. In connection with the effort to raise funds to instnl electric light the headmaster stated that a bottle drive had been made bv the children and as a result a very substantial addition will accrue. Tbe annual moeHiijr of the local branch of the Nat’onnl Partv. presided over hv Mr B. McLeod, was held in the hall this week. The election of officers resulted • President.. Mr B. McLeod: secretary, Mr L. Knight. Delegates to represent, the Colvton branch at the general meeting of the Oroua electorate in Feilding Messrs B McLeod, I/. Knight. H. W, Shepherd. F. Cousins. R. T.inklater, A. P. LangHon, and W. E. Parker. PERSONAL.
Mr and Mrs E. Billed left on Wednesdov for a month’s motor tour of the north, including the Bnv of Islands. Mr 1,. Thurston, Spur Road West, has been spending a holiday in Wellington. Mr B Mel.eod, Totarnnui, was tho Fending delegate to the R.S A. Conferenee in Wellington. Mr and Mrs C. 11. Wilson. Aratiha are spending a holiday in Wel.ington. Mr Garth Hills, “Pine Hill.” accompanied bv relatives from Ohingaiti, has returned from a motor tour of the Napier Rotorua and New Plymouth districts. Mr K. Bussell. “Gittshayne,” . accompanied bv his brother, Mr 11. J. Bussell, of Taka, pau, has been on a motor tour of the Taranaki and Waimarino districts.
