The Government torces counter-attacked and for six miles along tlie Valencia railway sector tlie ground was littered with dead and wounded. The rebel commanders evidently seek to straighten out tne lines south-east ot Madrid and then cut olt tlie capital from the Mediterranean coast by an encirclement. There was also heavy fighting at the week-end on the Guadarrania sector.
