DROWNED AT SEA.
AVOAIAN LOST OVERBOARD. CORONER’S FINDING. Per Press Association. AVELLIXGTON, June 30. A finding that deceased was lost overhoard and drowned at sea during the passage of the Rangatira from Lyttelton to AA’ellington on May 2, and that he could find no cause to sav she committed suicide, was returned by the Coroner (Air Gilbertson) at the inquest on Airs Atarjoric Elizabeth Jane Fulton, aged 6S. The inquest was conducted by order of the Attorney-General under Section 3 of the Coroners’ Amendment Act. Deceased’s husband. Nicholas Fulton, of AYangamii, said his wife had been suffering from general nervous disorder for a number of years, and since 1935 had been an inmate of the hospital at Ha inner Springs. Her health had shown continued decline, and recently she had asked him to take her home. He told the Coroner of being awakened by a stewardess on the Rangatira and informed that no trace of his wife could be found. They had no family. Medical reports were produced stating that deceased had suffered from involuntary melancholia. There was no evidence of deceased actually committing suicide, said the Coroner, although she might have lmd a sudden urge to do away with herself. The evidence showed that there was a deck watch kept on the Rangatira. hut it was possible for someone to jump overboard unseen. It had happened before.
