CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.
LADIES’ AUXILIARY
The quarterly meeting of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Congregational Church was held this week, Mrs Wright presiding. The guild room had been made attractive with flowers and small tables; this was carried out by Mrs Page. The meeting opened with a hymn land prayer, and a Scripture reading. ' The president stressed the fact that members especially remember their missionaries in China, which was on the verge of a great crisis. Letters from jthe mission field were read from India and China. Mr J. A. Wilkinson, the speaker for the afternoon, was asked 'to accept a small bouquet, together I with the sympathy of the meeting to | Mrs Wilkinsoni in her serious illness, and hopes were expressed for her speedy recovery. Mr Wilkinson read a summary of Rev. Leonard Hurst’s visit to Papua in his capacity of home secretary for the London Missionary Society. This proved most interesting and instructive, and on the motion of Mrs Page the speaker was accorded a vote of thanks,by acclamation. A hymn and prayer brought the meeting to a close. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Page and Spary, who were thanked by the president.
