A RECIPE.

APPLE RICE. Cook apples, after they arc cored, in a thin syrup of sugar, water, lemon rind and juice, until soft. Then to one pint of milk add grated lemon, sugar and 3oz of rice. Boil until the rice is soft and the mixture thick. Take out the pieces of lemon peel and arrange the rice in moulds on a hot dish. Spread a 'little warmed apricot' jam on each, place an apple on top and- put in a little jam iln the core cavity. Decorate with coloured coconut and cherries.

A card-table, with two legs left folded, makes an excellent table for use over the bod in a sick-room.
