SHANNON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) SHANNON, July 24. There was a large attendance of members at the Shannon Women’s Institute meeting, when three now, members, Mesdamos Greer, Pene, anil Marshall, were welcomed. A stall for the federation funds did good business and as a result of this effort over two meetings £2 2s 9d was collected. Mrs Aim gave a report of the recent Manawhenua Group Rally, bold in Tokomaru, and the “post bag” produced an interesting variety. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mrs Satherley (secretary) for the gift of a cushion for competition in the institute. Members were adrised of a flower show which a sister organisation is hoping to arrange for next De ceraber, and prize pansy cuttings sent in by Mrs S. Roberts were eagerly claimed by the garden enthusiasts with a view to some friendly rivalry in December. Mrs Aim was the demonstrator and her lesson on wood-fibre flower making wars most in foresting and appreciated by all. The competition for “best bloom in my. garden” was well supported and resu.t.ed : Mrs F Jamieson 1. Miss Aim 2. Mrs H Easton 3. Next month it is hoped to have a visit from the federation president.
