EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” JULY 16, 1907.
The All Blacks had defeated Queensland by. 23 points to 3. Arbor T)nv had been celebrated at the Terrace End School with a tree-planting ceremony. The chairman of the school committee (Mr J. A. Nash) and Mr, G. .7. Scott, who had held the position of chairman for ten years, had nlanted trees. The Government had been contemplating running an electric train service between Eltham and Opunnke. A German had made a cigar-shaped steerable balloon, which had travelled for no less than 80 miles against the wind. The annual report of the New Zealand Farmers’ Dairy (Union had shown that 867 tons of butter had been manufactured during the year, an increase of 10 tons over the previous year’s figures.
