(From Our Own Correspondent.) OHAKEA, July 24. Three possibles by F. Simpson, W. Klntt, and D. Ellery were scored at the weekly shoot. Scores were as follow: P. Ellery. 69-69-138; D. Ellery, 67--70-137; W. Klatt, 67—70—137; G. Simpson, 68—67 135; F. Simpson, 70 —65 —135; G. Robinson. 67 —67—134; G. Murray, 67 —67 —134; J. Wightman, 66 —67 —133; R. Harris, 62 —66 128; J. Ellery, 62-61—123; K. Bailey, 5666—122; C. Hartley, 66-56—122. The Ohakea Women’s Institute hold their second birthday in tho local hall, there being a large number of residents and visitors present. The early part of tho evening was taken up with a concert programme which was as follows:—Community singing, led by Mr Currie, of Sanson) humorous recitations, Mrs Churchill, of Rongotea; tap dances, Miss GwCn Parsons, of Stamvuy; Mrs Aird, of Rongotea, rendered (wo songs. A playette, “A Marriage Has Been Disarranged,” was presented by members of the local institute. Those taking part were Mesdames E. Ingram, W. Robinson. J. Ellery, Misses I. Matthews, E. Mullin, J. Ellery, E. Simpson, and I. Ellery. During supper, which was served by the institute ladies, the birthday cake candles wore lit by the oldest member (Mrs Harris) and blown out by ihc.youngest member (Miss J. Ellery). Mrs B. Frocklington, president, then asked Mrs E. E. Sport, of the executive committee of the North Wellington Federation, to cut Hie cake, which had been made by Mrs L. Koborstein and iced by Mies I. Ellery. Greetings were received from Halcombo, Stanwav, Rongotea, Bui’s, Sanson, Carnarvon, Cheltenham, and Parcwanui. Tho federation members Mrs Short, Mrs A. K. Drew and Mrs Billman, also the visiting entertainers, were presented with shoulder sprays by Mrs Frocklington. 'Tlufloor was cleared for dancing. A_ Monte Carlo was won by Miss N. C’apstick and Mr J. Palmer, and a spot schottischo by. Miss Buttress and Mr Burton, both of Carnarvon. A competition was won. by Mrs L. Snelgrove, of Huntcrville. Tho duties of M.C. wore carried out by Airs'B. Henderson. Air Marshall, who has been the guest of Mr and Mrs T. Tren.-a.in, has loft for Palmerston North.
