ROAD CYCLING

AMATEUR EVENTS. The Manawatu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club held its weekly senior and boys’ cycling races on Saturday afternoon. There were ten starters in the senior race over a distance of 39 miles. The fastest time (lhr 50min 58sec) was made by H. Essex. The boys’ race was over a distance of seven miles, Sheerin (20min 50sec) covering the course in the fastest time. Results : Senior. —Hayes (18min) 1. G. Sheridan (12min) 2, Manning. (12min) 3. Boys: Graham (6min) 1, Tnnnicliffe (6 min) 2, Turvey (6min) 3.

PROFESSIONAL RACE.

On Saturday the Counties’ Cash

Cycling Club continued the Boucher Cup series with a road race to Feilding and return, a distance of 25 miles. The result was: T. Jamieson (9min), lhr 4min 25sec, 1; E. Pedley (Bmin), lhr 3min 26sec., 2; R. Alexander (10 min), lhr smin 41sec, 3. Also started: A. Ganderton (smin), L. Drink water (3min), L. Fleming (scr). L. Fleming secured fastest time, taking under the hour for the trip, his time being 59min 38sec. Next Saturday the club will race over the same course and will commence from Terrace End at 2 p.m.
