WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

MEETING AT AWAHURI. Mrs Bond presided over a fair attendance at tire July meeting of the Awahuri Women’s Institute. Mrs Hen; darson acted os secretary as Miss tylatthews was unable to be present on account of illness. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Montgomerie, Goodman a.nd Christian. Several visitors and a new member, Mrs Milligan, were welcomed. Invitations to attend their birthday functions were received from the Kairanga and Bulls Institutes. Mesdames Henderson and Rowlands were the delegates appointed to attend the group committee meeting at Bunnythorpe. It was decided to hold a, euchre and dance in August. The next monthly meeting is to be held on the second instead of the third AVed-n'-sday in the month. Airs Short and Miss Grant will be present. A very interesting demonstration on barbola work was given by Mrs Haythorne. The results of the monthly competitions were as follow: Flowers, Miss Pearce 1, Miss McCollum 2, Mies Matthews 3. Infant’s knitted vest. Miss Pearce 1, Mrs Brownlie 2. Mrs Port 3. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdamrs N. Camnbell. Dyer, Thompson and Mias Goulden. A ga.me of musical sticks brought a pleasant afternoon to a close.
