TRAVELLERS’ TROUBLES.

STRIKE PICKETS IN AMERICA. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 26. Sir George AVales, M.L.C., Lord Mayor of Melbourne, who is returning home after visiting England for the Coronation, said in an interview that he and Lady Wales were prevented by strike pickets at San Francisco from entering the hotel where they had booked accommodation. They were not allowed even to collect their correspondence and had to go elsewhere. The strike appeared to be due to differences between the unions. One wanted to assume control, but the other organisation was resisting iti efforts. Many of the employees wanted to work under conditions which were entirely satisfactory to them, but the union would not permit them to do so. It was a most extraordinary position.
