LAMB MARKET VERY FIRM. WETHER MUTTON IMPROVES. The lamb market is very firm with prices for heavyweights higher. Consumption is excellent. Mutton market: Wethers, better prices owing to short spot stocks. Ewes, market steady and unchanged. Beef market : Frozen beef, market fiuiet owing to prospective heavier arrivals; chilled beef, easier owing to heavier supplies. New Zealand porker pigs: Slightly higher prices, but trade slow. New Zealand baconer pigs: Prices have advanced owing to improvement in bacon prices. i

The above report was received on Saturday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the approximate prices realised for thb week, based on actual transactions of ■wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned and aro for representative parools of the goods Offering during the week, being for business done on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market and/or ex London stores. The market for ewes is quiet and unchanged. The market is steady for lightweight lambs, but firmer tor heavyweights. Larger supplies of chilled beef have caused prices to weaken.
