ASHHURST.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) ASHHURST. July 26. On Saturday afternoon the first shoot of the Parkes and Co. Cup teams -matches between the Ashhurst and Pohonginn Valley Riflo Clubs was fired on the Ashhurst ranges. Conditions w<-re r ix men a-side, 7 shots and 2 optional sighters over thp 300, 500, and 600yds ranges. The weather was fine and dull, with variable 'winds and towards the late afternoon a bad shooting light with misty rain prevailed • for the final team to fire at the 600yJ* : three pnssibles were recorded, F. Bawstt at 300yds. A Brill, and R. A. Jones at sCoyds. C. Turner, with 34, was top scorer at 600yds. F. Bassett, with 101, in the Ashhurst B team was top scorer, and Ashhurst A ran out tho winners on the day, averaging 93.6. Detnils are as follow: —A. team, C. Turner, 33——33 —34 —100; A. Brill, 33 35 32 — 100; R~ A. Jones. 32—35 —33—100; S. ,J Brookie, 34 —33 —32—99; J.. Searle, 34 34—30—98; M. Hausemnn, 31—34—31—96. total. 592. B team, F. Bassett, 35—33 33 M. Baton, 34—33—31—98; T. Orr, W. G. Romley, 33—31 79 —93; N. Hopcroft, 33—32 —27—92; H. Russell. 30—31—21—82; total. 559. Pohanginn, J. Spellman, 32 —34—30—95 M. Fitzherhert, 30 —33—31 —94 ; TO. Spellman, 32 32—30 —94; A. P,aimer, 25—34 —32—91 : O. Gavin. 29—31—30—90; D. Turnbull, 29 —29 —29—87: total, 552. Mr and Mrs Finlay have returned, after spending a holidny at Wellinrton. Mr Finlay having attended the Educational Conference.
