OPERATIC SOCIETY.
REHEARSAL OF “RIO RITA.” The Palmerston North Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society last night rehearsed the choruses and music of “Rio Rita.” The large attendance included a number of new members, the company this year promising to be the largest for many a day. A strong chorus of men will be a. feature of the production, in which masculine players will predominate, as only five of the seventeen parts are for feminine performers. The musical director, Mr A. J. Graham, was present to direct proceedings last night; the producer is Mrs McBeatli, of Levin (better known as Mrs E. Hume), sister of Miss Carrie Moore, the well-known Australian actress; and the pianiste Mrs V. G. Clift.
