BOWLING SECTION. The following report will he presented on behalf of the bowling section at the annual meeting of the Northern Bowling, Croquet and Tennis Club : “The 1936-37 season stands out as probably the worst as far as weather was concerned in the history of tho club, hut despite this the season was a very successful one. The membership of 70 is a record for the. club, and we are, I think, justly proud of the members’ attainments during the season, and wish to congratulate the following players on their success: — Air A. Stableford, who won the club singles; Messrs Stableford and Reed, who won the club pairs, nnd were run-ners-up in the centre champion of champion pairs; Air H. Stallard, who represented the club in the champion of champion singles and was runnerup therein; Messrs Skoglund (skip), Rabone, Kershaw, and A 7 oung, who won the centre’s champion of champion rink tourney; Messrs Robinson (skip), Palmer, Binns and Andrew, who won the centre’s veterans’ tourney; Messrs Rabone (skip), Aloxon, Parsons and ■ Reed, who flew to Blenheim and won the Marlborough Easter tournament. The club also won- the Dixon ■ Cup, the Ainslie Shield, the Takaro-Te Raki Cup, the Manson nnd Barr Cup, which was lost to the Takaro Club later in the season. At the present time Alessrs Lee, Ranson and von Stunner are in Suva, where they propose taking part in the Suva tournament ' The club’s enterprise in laying down a second howling green some three years ago was rewarded when the Manawatu Centre decided to play two sections of the Easter-tournament at the Northern green. The large green was in excellent order and the finals were played thereon. The club had six rinks, a record, taking part in the tournament. Inter-club games were played at home and away with Oroua, Palmerston North, and Takaro, and were' much enjoyed.”
