DAZZLING HEADLIGHTS.
QUESTION IN COURT CASE. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 27. The responsibility of drivers when they meet dazzling headlights on the roads was touched on by Mr J list ice Nofthcroft in the Supreme Court this morning in his charge to the ■ Grand Jury when referring to charges against car drivers. V t •" “A man .was returning from the races in a motor vehicle, accompanied by his mother anw two friends; on a*perfectly straight road and r.an down and killed a man on a bicvcle,” said Mr Justice Northcroft. “He sugsequentlv made the statement that he was blinded by the lights of an on-com-ing vehitlev; and the Crown’s case is that it was Negligent of him to carry on while so,blinded. There is some controversy among motorists on the subiect of dazzling lights. Some certainly do dorrv on when dazzled by lights and hone that nothing happens before the lights pass, but it is for this jury to consider what thev should do.” A true bill of driving negligently was returned.
