The Alanawatu Rugby team had a narrow escape from being involved in a serious accident when travelling to Napier on Friday evening only a power pole preventing their conveyance from going over a high bank on the Norsewood hill. In descending the hill the omnibus in which the players were travelling crashed into a power pole, the only obstacle to prevent a drop of about 30 feet. The sid<\ of the bus was considerably damaged.
