PAHIATUA, July 26. Air G. Rutherford, of the telegraph branch of the Pahiatua Post Office has returned from the South Island where h© has been on holiday for the past three weeks. Mr A. J. Lysaght, of the Pahiatua Post Office staff, left yesterday for the South Island on leave. All and Airs AI. Crane and family have returned to Pahiatya from Wellington. Air E. E. Elphick, M.R.C.V.S., accompanied by th(j inspector of stock foi the district ('All' A. Kinghorn), is visiting Pahiatua. , „ .. The results of the Rugby football matches played, on Saturday, under the auspices of the Bush Union are: Nirealia 1.7 beat Alarima 11, Pahiatuu 12 bent Alakuri 0, Eketahuna forfeited to Ngaturi, Ballance forfeited to Hukanui.
Tho following were the best cards returned for the medal round played over the week-end by Pahiatua golfers. A Division: D. O. L. Howden, 79—10 —63, the winner; A. D. Donald, 78— 13 —65 j N. What is considered to he a most unusual occurrence was the appearance at Alangarawa last week of quintuplet lambs. Air A. F. Curry had an aged Romney Lincoln ewe which gave birth to five progeny, the aggregate weight of which was 171 b. With the exception of one game tlie first round of the Bush junior basketball competition was completed on Saturday, when High School 20 beat Woodville 12, and Ngawapurua 13 beat Athletic B 5.
