PAHIATUA, July 27. M essrs F. J. Handyside, dkeets, Brazendale and Corbiahly are members of the Wairarapa Mortgage Adjustment Commission, which is sitting in Pahiatua. A heavy mantle of snow which fell on the foothills around Eketahuna early yesterday morning lias not yet thawed. _ , . _. The headmaster of the Pahiatua District High School (Mr T. Clarke) reported a.t a meeting of the committee last evening that the present roll is 296 —250 in the primary and 46 in the secondary department. It was decided to subsidise the sports fund to the extent of £3" 10s on a £ for £ basis. A motion of condolence was passed to Bros. N. and I. Algie in their recent bereavement at a meeting of the Loyal Mangatainoka. Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F. The competition for the Farrow Ritual Shield, during the course of which, a candidate was initiated into the lodge, was judged by P.D.G.M. Bro. A. H. Gray and P.G.’s Bros. T. W. Watts and L. J. Cooper, Ekefcahuaa being the successful lodge. P.G. Bro. Farrow (the donor of the shield) and P.D.G.M. Bro. Gray complimented both lodges on the standard attained in ritual work, after which N.G. Bro. E. McKenzie presented the shield to the visiting N.G.
