Mr and Sirs Ronald Abraham, of Te Awe -Awe Street, are visiting Tongariro National Park. The death of Miss J. N. McChie, the original superintendent of the nursing division of the Palmerston North branch of the Red Cross Society, and matron of the Palmerston North Hospital, was feelingly referred to by Mrs It. L. .C. Aitcliison prior to a lecture delivered to members last evening. The ’cello and vocal recital presented in Wellington on Saturday night by Alias Joan Paton and Miss Margaret Feist, of Palmerston North, had an enthusiastic reception and both artists received laudatory Press notices. Miss Paton impressed both by her technique and ability to handle ambitious works, and it was commented that “she shows every promise of developing into an artist of note.” Miss Feist was heard to good effect in her vocal numbers. Airs Esme Rickard and Air Hamilton Dickson, who arranged the recital, played the accompaniments.
