AUCKLAND PRICES. AUCKLAND, July 27. Since last week the only notable change in pricea on the local grain and produce markets has concerned onions. Rapid depletion of the. stocks available from Puke kohe and from the South Island has caused prices to advance rapidly and today wholesale quotations rule from 16s to 17s per cwt. The announcement that the Government intends to arrange for the importation of Victorian onions is expected to bring about an easing in values, as they should land hero to sell at about 12s per 1001 b bag. Potatoes are in good supply in the city, and two steamers from the south are nr. loading to-day. White tables are steady at late rates, but Dakotas are selling 5s a ton cheaper, namely, from £lO to £ls 5s per ton. The pollard position shows no improvement. Merchants report difficulty in getting Australian supplies and prices show no .signs of easing. However, the demand is keen, even at the high price of £lO to £lO 5s per ton. Bran is available trample quantities from the local mills. The oats market is reported to be easier in (lie south, but there is no change in local values. Chaff is steady at £lO per ton. There is no change in maize. South African is quoted at 6s 4d to 6s 5d pet bushel. CARGOES QUIETER. LONDON, July 26. Wheat cargoes are quieter and easier and parcels are in poor demand.
