WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.

YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. With the exception of bank shares, the Wellington stock and share markets were generaly firm yesterday, but trading was not active. Government loans were unchanged on a strong demand, and £SOOO worth of 3i per cent . inscribed stock, March, 1939-43, was sold at £lO2 15s. Bank shares were again very dull with few inquiries. New Zealand D mortgage shares sold at 30s, and more were on offer at 30s 6d. The ordi I ries had unsupported buyers in at 445. The only other buying quotation was for New South Wales at £34. Industrial and trading issues were generally firm on a good demand. Five parcels of Broken Hill Proprietary sold at from 85s to 85s 3d. Australian Glass were appreciably firmer at 945, sellers asking Is higher. There was a good turnover of Woolworths and McKenzies at firm rates.
