THE Y.M.C.A.

The Y.M.C.A.’s Red Triangle Day, when an appeal is made to the public of Palmerston North to help one of the city’s most deserving institutions, will be held on Eriday. Many years have passed now since the organisation became established in this centre, and from a somewhat precarious infancy it has grown in strength and achievement until to-day the city would not by any means be complete in its amenities were it to lack this great force in the building of a healthy and upright citizenship. Men and youths can testify to the wholesome influence of the Y.M.C.A. upon their lives, of the benefit they received from the healthy and vigorous exercises iu the gymnasium, and of its ennobling urge in, the formation of character. But like its sister organisation the Y.W.C.A., it has to depend upon the generosity of the public for its maintenance to a not inconsiderable extent, hence the annual appeals that are made for monetary support. As in the past the people of Palmerston North, knowing full well the value of its Y.M.C.A., may again be'.depended upon to give liberally to a most worthy cause. No city of any importance should be without the beneficent influence of the Y.M.C.A., it has been established* it has left the impress of its great ideals upon the people it serves. This city is fortunate in having a strong organisation, capably guided by worthy citizens, and ably controlled by its officers, and it is a cause that can always be commended for financial assistance.
