DICTATION TEST,
AUSTRALIAN LAW UNDER REVIEW.
Officials of the Department of the Interior at Canberra are reviewing the immigration laws, because the Federal Government is worried hv the influx of aliens, said the Sydney Morning Herald recently. Among other matters iinder consideration is the possibility of eliminating the dictation test. The Minister for the Interior (Mr Paterson) said that the Commonwealth would consider any reasonable suggestion made by the States to ensure more effective application of the laws. Other aspects of the migration problem are also being reviewed. The law may be amended to permit a deported person to re-enter Australia if .the Commonwealth Government is satisfied that he is no longer an undesirable citizen.
