PROTECTION OF REFUGEES
LEAGUE’S WORK MAY END

Phe importance of continuing as one of the functions of the League of Nations the international protection of refugees was urged by a deputation which was received this morning at the Foreign Office by the Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs. Lord Cranborne, •who is Rapporteur on Refugees to the League Council. The deputation, which was led by the Archbishop of Canterbury, drew attention to the grave anxiety felt by large sections of British public opinion owing to the proposal to close the Nansen International Office for Refugees at the end of 1938.
Lord Cranborne promised that His Majesty’6 Government would give sympathetic consideration to tho deputation’s representations.
