TUDOR’S PROGRAMME.

SORENESS SHAKEN OFF. TO RACE ON SATURDAY. (By “Spectator.”) According to a Riccarton report tho Awapuni-trained hoiso Tudor has thrown off the soreness from which ho was suffering on his arrival. However, it is not intended to give him any schooling before he contests the Homeby Steeples at the Hunt meeting on Saturday. Ho is still greatly fancied in a National connection, especially as ho has the very minimum of poundage ho could have been reasonably given. He should have benefited more with his Trontham racing than any other horso at that mooting, and when ono considers the Wellington Steeplechase one cannot but help fooling that his challenge in- the Straight might have been successful despite his 12.0 if the ground had not been so thick and heavy. And now tho champion—ho deserves the title though ho has not yet won any of tho bigger winter events has in bis favour those four big factors: three pounde less weight,. while tho other form horses are up in the'scale; firmer ground and tho type of fences he likes best; more racing in-him to help in bringing him to top condition; and plenty of time at Christchurch in which to become settled to his surroundings.

Mala Nearly Ready. Mala is coming on nicely at Sydney in his preparation for tho spring races. 11. E. Russell is giving the colt plenty of solid work and he is shaping up well. Mala will probably have bis first race in a Week or two.

Wotan Shaping Well. The Hawora mentor, J. Fryer, lost no time in putting his team into work in Melbourne. They aro to bo prepared at Caulfield. Fryer is very pleased with the way last year’s Melbourno Cup winner, Wotan, has settled down. Coronation.

Three Injured Riders. Three interested spectators at Riccarton yesterday were L. J. Ellis, G. Humphries and A. Parsons. Ellis hopes to have hi 3 injured shoulder out of the sling on Friday and it will then be known whether he will bt able to ride at the Grand National meeting. Humphries is able to get about on crutches, but it will bo some time before he is fit to ride again. Parsons is recoverlug from 3.11 operation for ancj hopes to resume his calling during National week.

Haughty Winner. Tho Chokobore colt, Haughty Winner, has developed into a solid, youngster and should attract much attention as a three-year-old. Ho has been galloping well in half-milo sprints lately and on. tho .last two occasions be was matched "with Night Dress showed tho way homo. The latter has also grown into a maesivo colt and closely resembles his good-looking siro at the same age. Veteran May Race.

Billy Boy’s withdrawal from tho Grand National Steeplechase was due to a gathering in a hoof, but his owricr-traincr, R. W. Lowis, is hopeful that be will bo ablo to give his favourite a race on ono of the later days of the meeting. There is little likelihood of any chances being taken with him, however. Hunter’s Morn Listed. Hunter’s Morn, after having been given overy opportunity to mend his. ways, has been placed on tho schooling list-. It will bo remembered that. lio took charge of his rider in one of his races at Trentharn recently, and the field was dispatched without him.

Auto Sweep’s Dam. The Limond maro Crubeen got Cottes' more, Quconie Mond and Windsoreen to Potoa in her first three matings, and Auto Sweep, who paid over a quarter of a century lor a place at Trontham recently, is the first of hor next three matings which were to Captain Bunsby. Hor seventh mating, from which a foal is duo in the spring, was to Rulanut. Improved By Spell. Since resuming work after his spell, Ringshot has only been doing light tasks at Ellcrslio, and W. Kirk has the chestnut in groat order for tho coining season. Judged on appearances, Ringshot should be better than, ever, as he is more solid-looking than formerly. In several of his latest outings this hack was unsuited by tho going, and when the ground becomes firm more money is likely to come his way. Making Good Headway.

The rising two-year-old filly by Appellant from a Depredation—Kilwinning mal'o in R. E. Manson’s stable at EUorslie has improved a good deal during the laet month. She is a noat-looking youngster and should come to hand early. All going well in tho interim, this' filly may- make her first' appearance in public at tho Wanganui meeting in September Mounts At Riccarton.

Tho Ellerslio jockey L. Dulicu will attend the Grand National meeting next month, where ho has contracted to ride Burglar, Corowa and Juppa in their respective engagements at Riccarton. Dulicu had the mount on Burglar when that horse won the duly Steeplechase at tho recent Wellington mooting, and was also on Corowa when he scored in tho Higlnvcight Handicap at the same fixture.
