PAIIIATUA, July 23. The Mayor (Mr J. 1). Wilson) presided over a public meeting held to re-appoint a eonimiitoe to control the affairs of the Carnival Park, Pahiatua. The report prer.llcd stated, inter alia: “'the receipts for Luo year were £324 19s 6d anil the expenditure £264 11s 7d, leaving a credit balance of £6O 7s lid. Suggested work for the coming year jneludes the erection of a cattle-stop and 1 an open concrete drain from the caretaker’s cottage; painting the interior of the callipers’ shed and tho seats in the park; al.-o additional seating aiid tables for picnic parties.” Mention, was aiso made of the passing of the late Mr A Kddie. 'lho election of officers resulted. Chairman, Mr Wiison; secretary, Mr J. A. Walsh; committee, chairman ot the Palilalia County Council, president of tho Pahiatua A. and P. Association. Dr. 11. T Dawson, and Messrs E. S. Heckler, J Byrne and G. 11. Brown. A sub-commit-teo consisting of Messrs J. Byrne, G. H. Brown and E. S. Heckler was appointed to purchase flowers, shrubs, and trees, the expenditure being limited to £2O. Mr W. J. Henderson was in the chair at a meetii. goi tilt executive of the Bush Rugby Union last evening. The Wairarapa Union advised that the data of tne return senior match against Bush would be decided at their meeting on August 5. It was' agreed to give tlle Pukctoi bub- • Union permission to go on tour, the following itinerary being accepted: July 31, against Ruapehu, at Raetilii; August 4, at Taumarunui; August 7, at Te Kuiti; August 11, at Ohura. Tho secretary re ported that the expenses would be some £6C more than last year and that it was quite possible that there might be a small debit balance. The senior Cowan Cup fixtures wens arranged &s follow: Manga tainoka v. Ilamua; Alfredton, a bye. When Makomako and Mangamutu. met in a further Byrne Shield shooting competition match last evening they drew. 921 points being scored by both sides. Mangatainoka- (997) beat Konini (393) by nine points.
