The anticyclone which has been moving slowly across Australia now extends from New South Wales across the north Tasman Sea to beyond New Zealand. Secondary depressions continue, however, to traverse the southern portion of the South Island. Forecast: Moderate to fresh westerly winds, changing shortly to southwesterlies and increasing. Weather for the most part fine, hut some showers possible this evening. Cold night temperatures with some frosts inland. Seas moderate but later rising. RIVER GAUGE AT PALMERSTON NORTH. Noon. —3ft 9in.
