VALEDICTORY.

AIRS C. F. WATERS. Mrs C. F. A. Waters, who is leaving Palmerston North to take up her residence in Wellington, was entertained at an enjoyable afternoon tea party at Messrs Coilinson and Cunningname’s, yesterday, by members of the past and present committee and the singing circle of the Palmerston North branch of the League of Mothers. Vases of flowering prunus adorned the tea tables. Mrs G. G. Hancox, who presided, took the opportunity of presenting Mrs Waters with a crystal powder bowl on behalf of those present. She thanked Mrs Waters for tlie help she had given the league and conveyed the best wishes of her fellow members for health and happiness in the future. Mrs D. E. Dredge also spoke on behalf of the committee and Mrs O. Christiansen on behalf of the singing circle. Airs Waters returned thanks for the gift and the kindly remarks.

A flag bridge evening held by members of the Manawatu Croquet Club in the pavilion in Fitzherhert Avenue, last night, proved most successful. The hostesses were Mesdames Robertson, Harvey, and Radford. Prizes were won by Alesdames Stevens and Freeman and Mr Greer.
