PLOUGHMAN’S LONG TREK.
The fact that a man in search of work may enrol under the placement service at any Post Office seems to have been overlooked by a plmingliman who “swagged” his way along the 300odd miles of road from Blenheim to Oamaru. Near the latter borough he was given a lift by a stock agent’s representative who drove him to the local placement office. In due course hisqualifications as a first-class ploughman were verified, and he was quickly placed with a farmer who insists upon a high -standard of work, and who cannot understand how such a competent man had failed to get employment during his long trek through agricultural districts. If this capable worker had enrolled at one of the Post Offices lie passed on his long walk he probably would have had no need to continue his journey.
