KING FAROUK.
INVESTITURE AT CAIRO. CAIRO, July 29. Scenes of great enthusiasm marked the investiture and acclamation of King Farouk, whereby he becomes the world’s youngest reigning monarch. Huge crowds lined the procession route from the Palace to Parliament where a brilliant gathering, including the Queen Mother and Princesses, witnessed' the taking of the oath ceremony in the Chamber of Deputies. There was no coronation as modern Egypt has no crown. FACES UNVEILED. NEW STYLE FOR WOMEN. Received July 30, 10.55 a.m. CAIRO, July 29. Significant of the westernisation of the East, women's faces, were almost uncovered at the investiture of King Farouk. The Queen Mother, the princesses, Indies of tin- Court and others wore small white guazo veils covering or.lv tiie chin. The King took his seat on a throne of gold and green velvet overhung hy a canopy and surmounted bv a ■ massive crown. This and the crown, outside the building, were held aloft by four “eagles”- 40 feet high, which arc the symbols of the King’s Prominent among 'ho _ sightseers were sticks and fierce looking desert tribesmen in flowing robes.
