That the style of play of the Springboks has benefited from the visit to New Zealand in 1921 was the opinion expressed by the sole selector of the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union, Mr-N. A. McKenzie, in an address to the Napier Rotary Club. Mr McKenzie ' said the 1921 side were wonderful on defence. They did not aim to compile big scores, but SO good was their defence that they could afford to rest on a threepoint lead and could keep it. The present team was different and the Les had proved that they could play the type of Rugbv that New Zealanders longed to see.
