(From Our Own Correspondent.) STANWAY, July 30. At the fortnightly euchre tournament Mrs J. Old won the ladies’ first prize, while Mr J. Old won the men’s. Consolation prizes went to Mr I. Old and Miss T. Old.
At a meeting of the Sehcol Committee Mr If. Ch ristian presided. The main business was consideration of the transport of t.bo Stamvay School pupils to Ilalcombe Wider tho proposed consolidation scheme. r l lie Wanganui Education Board had called tondors, but bad received no applications und desired the committee to make suggestions. It was decided that there were no suggestions to mako as the safety of transport was of paramount importance to tho parents. It was decided to hold a children's fancy dress party in August. Tho friends of Mrs Frank Cowdrey will he pleased to learn that she is progressing we'.l arid expects to leave hospital early noxt week. Mr G. Johnson is at present touring in the Nelson and Canterbury piovinccs.'
There are quite a few early lambs in the district. Indications here are for an early spring.
