WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.

YESTERDAY'S BUSINESS- AND PRICES. Prices wore fairly steady on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday and an increased volume of business was recorded. The markets presonted no now or outstanding features. Government loans were in keen demand and buyers firmed their bids without drawing sellers. There was no improvement in bank shares, the market for which remained extremely dull. New Zealand wero firm at 44s 3d, sellers 44s 9d. National of New Zealand were weak at 59s 6d, no sellers. Now South Wales wero unchanged at £34 ICte. Commercial of Australia sold at 18s Id, and inoro wero offering at a penny higher. Goldsbrouglr Mort improved to 35s 7d, sellers 36s 3d. South British Insurance wore again stronger at 97s 6d, sellers 98s 9d. There was a better demand for brewery issues at steadier rates. Broken Hill Proprietary were wanted at 82s’ 3d, sellers asking 6d higher. Electrolytic Zinc were on the weak side at 57s for ordinaries and 57s 9d for the preference. G. J.
