SAFETY IN THE AIR.
AVOIDING ICE FORMATION. WASHINGTON, July 29. The Government has approved the adoption of a de-icer for civil aeroplanes, consisting of a rubber tul>e fitted to the wings and tail, through which compressed air is pumped in order to crack ice formations.
Tt has also approved a device for bathing the propeller blades with an anti-freeze solution.
