BADMINTON

INTER-DISTRICT GAMES. MANAWATU PLACED SECOND. Representative badminton teams from Wellington, Manawatu, Wanganui, Hawke’s Bay and Wairarapa met in a tournament at the Showgrounds over the week-end, Wellington winning, with Manawatu in second place. Compared with tho standard of previous tournaments, tho play showed a decided improvement. The arrangements for the tournament were made bj tho Manawatu players, and the visitors were very appreciative of the facilities for play and tho hospitality extended them. Mr and Mrs J. T. McDonald gave yeoman service for tho tournament and as a mark of appreciation they were presented by tho players with an electric toaster. Cheers wero given for tho ladies in charge of the catering.
