OFFENCE AT WHANGAREI.
Per Press Association. WHANGAREI, Aug. 2. William Ballantyne. a man on sustenance, was fined £25 and costs by Mr G. N. Morris, S.M., to-day for making a false declaration of his private income and thereby obtaining benefits from the employment tund to the extent of £l2 to which he was not entitled. It was stated that Ballantyne indicated that he had only £1 a week, but Inter it was found that his wife was earning £2 from two sources. Ballantyne was given a month to pay.
